These instructions are to create an open group assessment using a Diagnostic tool, then distribute the URL to an audience to collect responses. An email address is required to be entered by each respondent, however the respondent can choose to enter random email addresses so as to keep their participation anonymous if they wish to.
This can be beneficial if you want to invite a specific audience of people, but they wish to remain anonymous. Using the Open Group assessment type will allow for this possibility.
Create a new assessment
- In My Diagnostics, click the New Assessment button and select the tool you want to use.
- Enter the required information (name, change type) for this new assessment.
- Edit the custom introduction to insert instructions to maintain anonymity (this is shown to respondents of the assessment).
- The specific instruction to the respondents that when they enter an email address they must make up a random address, such as 1@c.com - the addresses must always include the @ and .com (or other top level ending).
- Fuller explanation of the need to enter an email but the request from you that to maintain full anonymity you ask that if they do not want to be identified as having taken part then they make up a anonymised email address.
- Select Collect Responses, select Open Group for Assessment Type.
- Copy the Assessment URL provided on the Collect Responses page.
Invite your participants to respond
Communicate with the people you want to invite to take part and respond to your assessment. Ensure your instructions include the:
- Assessment URL, and
- the content you used for the custom introduction (for consistent messaging).
Monitor results
After sending the invitation to the participants, wait for a period of time before checking results for your assessment in My Diagnostics. Results will not be available until at least 3 people have taken part.
- To see how many have taken part in your open group assessment, look across from the assessment name in the My Diagnostics list to see the number of responses.
- To see who has taken part, click Collect Response icon (to the right of the assessment name) and select Participants header (those that have taken part) will be listed. Please note that those who want to be anonymous will be listed here but only the anonymised email will appear (what they entered before responding to the assessment).
